Where You Lead, I Will Follow

by: Christy Lustig

In the chaos, I cling to my faith, knowing that God has a plan for both my children and I, even if I don't always fully know it, at first. Prayer has become my lifeline during these days, a sacred conversation with God where I poured out my fears, doubts, and hopes. In these quiet moments, I find solace in knowing that I was not alone in this journey.

I trust that God will provide the strength and guidance I need to face each day with grace and resilience.

As a single mother, I realize that the love I hold for my children and my God surpassed any obstacle that lay ahead. One of the most valuable lessons I have learned as a single mother is the importance of leaning on others for support. It truly takes a spiritual village! A Christ centered community. I have discovered a community of prayer and worship and together we formed a net of strength that carries my heart through the valley. With encouragement and shared wisdom, I find comfort and reassurance that I am not alone.

It can be easy to overlook the small moments where God's grace is present. Whether it's a shared laugh with my little ones, a peaceful moment of reflection, or the provision of unexpected blessings, I've learned to recognize and cherish these divine moments. They serve as a reminder of God's constant presence in my life and provide me with the strength to keep going.

Single motherhood is undoubtedly a challenging path, but through faith in King Jesus, it becomes an opportunity for growth, resilience, and unwavering love. My journey to walk with the King has taught me the importance of trust, prayer, community, and finding grace in the mundane.

With Jesus as my anchor, I have discovered a strength within myself that I never knew existed. It is this strength that guides me through the trials and triumphs, reminding me that I am not alone, and that even in solitude, I am deeply loved and supported, and my God is a Father to all.

As a Christian mother, motherhood has become deeply rooted in my faith and guided by the teachings of His Holy Word.

One particular verse that resonates with me is found in Proverbs 22:6, which states, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."

This verse reminds me of the importance of instilling Godly values and teachings in my children from a young age. It encourages me to be intentional in my role as a mother, to teach them about the love and grace of God, and to model a life of faith before them. Through prayer, reading the Bible together, and engaging in conversations about faith, morality and our place in God’s kingdom, I am able to create an environment where my children can grow in their relationship with God, hand in hand with me.

Motherhood, for me, is not just about raising children but also about nurturing their souls and pointing them towards the eternal truths found in God's word, and it starts with me. My children will look and follow me as I follow Jesus.

Proverbs 22:6 serves as a constant reminder of the great responsibility and privilege I have as a Christian mother to guide my children along on their own spiritual journey.

Mothers, cling on to the word of God. It is alive and active, everyday. Our jobs as mothers is hard, but we lean on the strength of our Mighty God. Where we are weak, He is strong. Let His light shine through you, because what your children see is always going to be His power through you. Lead as you follow Him.

Where You lead, I will follow, Jesus.
