“Way maker, miracle worker, promise keeper, light in the darkness…”
Every time I hear the song “Way Maker” (Sinach), the lyrics remind me and make me think about God’s wonders and how good He was and is to His people. God always frees His people from captivity, brings hope, and wants us to know who He is:
This is what the Lord says—your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel… “I am the Lord, your Holy One, Israel’s Creator and King. I am the Lord, who opened a way through the waters, making a dry path through the sea.” Isaiah 43:14-16 NLT
In these verses, God clearly refers to Himself as the Redeemer and the Holy One of Israel. The word 'Redeemer' refers to the deliverance of Christians from sin. God the Father knows that we live in this fallen world, and each one of us needs to receive salvation through Jesus Christ. We are His creation; the creation of a King who sits on His throne and calls us His children. What a wonderful expression of love manifested to us. We just need to call His name, and He as a good Father listens to our prayers and works miracles in our lives. In Isaiah 43:16, God is shown to be the way maker, and in Psalm 66:5-6, David praised God because He did wonderful miracles to free His people from the Egyptians:
Come and see what our God has done, what awesome miracles he performs for people! He made a dry path through the Red Sea, and his people went across on foot. There we rejoiced in him. Psalm 66:5-6 NLT
God did all of these miracles because of the love He has for His children. Regardless of trials, afflictions, or sorrows, God wants us to trust Him. He always will be with us in the middle of our tribulations, worries, or problems, and we can be sure that our Heavenly Father will teach us and show us the way to receive His understanding and peace.
After conflicts in my marriage when we lived in New York, my husband and I decided to move to Florida to start a new chapter in our lives. We left our families, friends, and jobs, and we came hoping to improve our relationship. Well, God was preparing the way for us to know Him in spirit and truth. Two years passed, and then one day our neighbor invited us to a small group meeting. It was in this fellowship that we found the real God. We accepted Jesus into our hearts, and everything changed for good. After twelve sessions of marriage counseling and living and learning from the scriptures, we were ready to receive the blessing of marriage in our church. God did this miracle of restoring my marriage. He worked in my husband’s heart to forgive me, and He gave me a new heart to forgive people. When I look back, I see God’s way and purpose in my life. He keeps and fulfills his promises. The God who opened the way through the waters, making a dry path through the sea, is the same God that I call my Heavenly Father today. He delivered His people from the Egyptians, and He brought the truth to my life. God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. He is the way maker, the miracle worker, the promise keeper, and the light in the darkness.
Today, we have the opportunity to bring hope to the hopeless. Today, we can pray for others so they can receive their miracle. Today, through the power of the Holy Spirit that is in us, we are called to bring the light to the darkness. Today, we have the opportunity to share with others salvation through Jesus Christ!
“Hacedor de caminos, hacedor de milagros, cumplidor de promesas, luz en la oscuridad…”
Cada vez que escucho esta canción me hace recordar y me pone a pensar en las maravillas de Dios y lo bueno que fué y es para su pueblo. Dios siempre liberará a su pueblo del cautiverio, traerá esperanza, y también quiere que sepamos quién Él es:
Esto dice el Señor, tu Redentor, el Santo de Israel… “Yo soy el Señor, tu Santo, el Creador y Rey de Israel. Yo soy el Señor, que abrió un camino a través de las aguas, e hizo una senda seca a través del mar.” Isaías 43: 14-16 NTV
Claramente, en estos versículos, Dios se refiere a sí mismo como el Redentor y el Santo de Israel. La palabra 'Redentor' se refiere a la liberación de los pecados como cristianos. Dios el Padre sabía que vivimos en este mundo que cae, y cada uno necesita recibir la salvación por medio de Jesucristo. Somos su creación, la creación de un Rey que comparte su trono y nos llama sus hijos. Qué maravillosa expresión de amor que él manifestó a sus hijos. Solo tenemos que invocar su nombre, y él, como buen padre, escucha nuestras oraciones y hace milagros en nuestras vidas. En Isaías 43:16, Dios se llama el hacedor de caminos, y en el Salmo 66:5-6, David alaba a Dios porque hizo milagros maravillosos para liberar a su pueblo de los egipcios:
Vengan y vean lo que nuestro Dios ha hecho, ¡los imponentes milagros que realiza a favor de la gente! Abrió un camino seco a través del mar Rojo, y su pueblo cruzó a pie. Allí nos alegramos en él. Salmos 66:5-6 NTV
Dios hizo todos estos milagros por el amor que sus hijos. Independientemente de las pruebas, aflicciones o penas que estemos pasando, Dios quiere que confiemos en él. Él siempre estará con nosotros en medio de nuestras tribulaciones, preocupaciones o problemas, debemos de estar seguros que nuestro Padre celestial nos enseñará y nos mostrará el camino para recibir su comprensión y paz.
Después de haber tenido conflictos en mi matrimonio cuando vivíamos en Nueva York, mi esposo y yo decidimos mudarnos a Florida para comenzar un nuevo capítulo en nuestras vidas. Dejamos a nuestras familias, amigos, empleos y vinimos con la esperanza de mejorar nuestra relación. Bueno, Dios estaba preparando el camino para que lo conozcamos en espíritu y en verdad. Pasaron dos años y un día nuestro vecino nos invitó a una reunión de grupos pequeños. Fue en esta comunión que encontramos al Dios verdadero. Aceptamos a Jesús en nuestros corazones, y todo cambió para siempre. Después de doce sesiones de consejería matrimonial, viviendo y aprendiendo de las Escrituras, estábamos listos para recibir la bendición del matrimonio en nuestra iglesia. Dios hizo el milagro de restaurar mi matrimonio, Dios trabajó en el corazón de mi esposo para perdonarme, Dios me dio un nuevo corazón para perdonar a las personas. Cuando miro hacia atrás, veo el camino y el propósito de Dios en mi vida. Él cumple y cumple su promesa. El Dios que abrió el camino a través de las aguas, haciendo un camino seco a través del mar, es el mismo Dios que hoy llamo mi Padre celestial. Él liberó a su pueblo de los egipcios, y trajo la verdad a mi vida. Dios es el mismo ayer, hoy y mañana. Él es el hacedor de caminos, el hacedor de milagros, el cumplidor de promesas y la luz en la oscuridad.
Hoy, tenemos la oportunidad de traer esperanza a los desesperados. Hoy, podemos orar por otros para que puedan recibir su milagro. Hoy, a través del poder del Espíritu Santo que está en nosotros, estamos llamados a traer la luz a la oscuridad. Hoy, tenemos la oportunidad de compartir con otros la salvación a través de Jesucristo!
