I’m not one to give the enemy much credit because I realize that most of the time, it takes two. It takes him attempting to deceive us and us believing and acting upon his lies. Yet, I must admit he is pretty good at distorting truth. He is known to whisper a half truth. He is cunning enough that if we didn’t know the full truth and have it embedded in our hearts, we would believe the lie.
He has ONE tactic and that is for us to believe lies over truth.
“Deception has endless variations which Satan tailors to our natural bents. Like a seasoned fisherman, he selects the lure that he knows is most likely to attract his intended prey - the one we’re least likely to consider harmful. He doesn’t care what we believe as long as we don’t believe the truth. The truth causes his kingdom and his control to crumble.” ~Nancy DeMoss
Believing lies places us in bondage. BUT the truth has the power to set us free.
So how do we know the truth and recognize the lies?
We must be in relationship with and allow the Holy Spirit to fill us and guide us as He was intended to do - as the revealer of all Truth.
“But when the truth-giving Spirit comes, he will unveil the reality of every truth within you. He won’t speak on his own, but only what he hears from the Father, and he will reveal prophetically to you what is to come.” John 16:13 TPT
“But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.” John 14:26 NLT
We must remain in God’s Word, the Bible, daily. Doing this allows truth to permeate every area of our lives. God’s Word combats every lie the enemy attempts to use on us and gives us the power to reject each lie and replace it with the truth.
We must put on the armor of God as described in Ephesians 6. We utilize this armor, specifically the belt of truth, to combat the lies that come at us. God’s Truth has the power to overcome every lie, set us free, and sanctify us.
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Ephesians 6:10-18 NIV
As children of God, who are called to be Christ’s ambassadors in this world, let us know the truth, reject the lies, and apply truth to every area of our lives.
“So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”” 2 Corinthians 5:20 NLT
